It’s only Tuesday…

Maintained weight this week…again.  I can’t seem to bust out of 190.  I wonder why?  Geez, as I am enjoying a coffee and cookie at my computer (at work), I just can’t figure out why I’m at a plateau for so dang long!  (note there is sarcasm going on here in case no one gets my humor)

Saturday was my PT session with Trainer Matt.  Here’s what he had me do and what my routine is for the week:

Table top

Plank

Cobra (all 2 sets of 15 reps)

 

Walking lunge w/rotation

Pushup Plank (all 2 sets-lunge 12 reps, plank 30-45 sec)

 

Rev. lunge w/touchdown

Hand taps (2 sets-10 reps lunge, 20 sec. hand taps)

 

Walking lunge w/press (3 sets 12 rep w/8 pounds then had to go down to 5)

High plank hold (3 sets 30 sec)

 

Squat to row (3 sets 15 reps 25 pounds)

Step up to curl (3 sets 10 reps 8 pounds)

 

Cable chest press

Cable hold (3 sets 15 reps 10 pounds)

 

Got my zones plugged into my Polar and I’m going to continue doing the cardio workouts they recommend to improve my cardiovascular endurance.  Now I need to figure out when to get into the club this week.  I already blew off Sunday and Monday.  Tonight I get my ‘do done (very excited about that).  Wednesday is Sami’s preschool conferences and then I’m going out with my sis later to see a local band perform at a benefit.  Thursday and Friday are good.  Saturday morning is my last PT session.

I need to decide if I’m going to continue with Trainer Matt.  I really like him, but since he’s one of the veteran staff there he is $99/hr.  I got in on this deal where they were doing 3 PT sessions for $99.  He does have a female PT in mind for me who is $70/hr after our sessions are done.  I just need to decide.

I also brought up the Country Music Half Marathon/Women’s Retreat with Corrine of Phit n Phat.com up to Paul last night.  His first response was no.  He doesn’t get it.  I tried explaining everything to him, but he just didn’t understand.  I was upset.  After a bit, he asked why this was so important to me.  Then when I started explaining, somehow we got interrupted and never finished our conversation.  I think he will come around.  I just need to give him some more time.

By the way…I am going to throw out my second cookie right now.  Yup, just did it…it’s in the garbage now.

Better get back to work!

This summer when I got hooked into the world of food blogs, I ran across a blog called, The Healthy Everythingtarian.  I really liked what Holly had to say, and I enjoyed reading what she ate. It probably helped that she was living in the Twin Cities (she has since moved) so I liked reading about places she was going to that I knew I could check out too.  (I’m a sucka for trying new places to eat, even though my ability to get out of the house is tricky)

Anyways, Miss Holly has a giveaway on her blog for a sample of Tera’s Whey protein powder.  What peaks my interest in this product is the fact that they use organic, hormone free cow, sheep, and goat whey powder,  stevia, and high antioxidant superfruits.  I hope to score some myself, but I am just spreading the word about this good stuff.

What’s new pussycat?

I have a student who sings that so it got stuck in my head.   Let’s see…I have done the following things since Vegas:

1. joined a fitness club (well I did that before Vegas)

2. had my initial fitness eval done and discovered I was pretty low with my cardio strength, so I need to improve that.

3. hired a personal trainer for 3 sessions.  had my first official session last week.

4.  had a “cardio point” assessment done at the club.  I discovered I was working out too hard and was working out above my heart rate/fat burning zone.

5. completed my 2nd official 5K on Halloween and beat my previous time by over a minute.

My weight has not changed much.  I’ve been maintaining.  So, I needed to get back to using Sparkpeople.com to keep better track of my food.  I was also having issues with eating cookies and chocolate again, so I had a “detox” (as I call it) to knock that off.   I’m on day 5 now and have been doing well.  I just need to get those cravings out of my system and then I’m good.

So, that’s what I’ve been up to…hopefully I can do a better job keeping up with this.

Yes, I have been missing in action for a long time.  I went on my trip to Vegas in mid-October and just have been playing catch up ever since.  I wish I had more hours in the day, but I don’t.  However, Vegas was a blast.  Overall, I ate well, but did have occasional splurges.

These were crepes I had at “Le Creperie” in the Paris hotel.   It was a pear crepe with walnuts and an almond type cream.  Delish…

I am a HUGE fan of Man v. Food so I had to go to Hash House a Go Go.  I was so excited to be at the same place that Adam was…

However, when we arrived there on our last morning, I may have had a bit too much to drink the night before, so my stomach was a little touchy.  Here is what I had.

I had a griddled french toast dipped in banana cinnamon cream w/ pecan maple syrup.  I really wanted the sage fried chicken and waffles, but I wasn’t in the mood when I got there.  Here is what it looks like though:

Overall the weather was great and it was wonderful to get away from the demands of daily life.

Getting ready…

I leave for Vegas in a few days.  I’m busy running around trying to get ready.  It’s been years since I’ve flown.  It’s been ages since I took a “girls trip.”  One thing I’m excited about is the food.  I’m a huge fan of the show Man v. Food and Rachel Ray’s Tasty Travels.  A restaurant that they both talked about on their shows (on Vegas) is Hash House a Go Go .  I am so beyond excited to check this place out.

Silly how I can be so excited about this huh?  Well, I love eating out at really good places that has really good food.  You can guarantee that I will be taking pictures and posting them when I return!

I have only worked out once this week.  Food has been ok, but I have indulged a bit this weekend.  I’m guessing I’ll either maintain or gain a pound when I weigh myself tomorrow.

We’ll have to wait and see…

It’s only Wednesday???

No clue where the last couple days have gone.  I haven’t worked out yet this week and I am feeling it.  I get almost crabby if I don’t.  The last couple nights have been busy.  Vikings played Monday night, Twins played last night.  Not that I watched the games.  My hubby did,  while I chased the kids…maybe that counts for a workout?

A little victory for me today.  I was able to wear a shirt I bought last year.  The reason why I didn’t wear it until now was because my stomach was still messed up from having my baby last August.  I hung onto the shirt hoping one day I could wear it.  Today was that day.

My pants on the other hand were too big!  I didn’t have time to check myself before I ran out the door, but when I got to work, a few people said something.  Nothing bad, just comments like: “wow, you are losing weight…look at those pants!  You need to go shopping!”

I laughed and laughed even more when I did see myself.  Here are the photos to prove it…

I’m shrinking?

I went to the doctor today for the usual “annual” appointment and discovered that I am shrinking.  I always remember being 5’9″ since high school.  I am now 34 years old and I am 5’7 1/2″ tall.  I asked my doctor about it and she didn’t think that was right.  She told me to go back and have the nurse remeasure me.

I did.  Sure enough…it was right.  The nurse said it was common…what?  I think I need to do some research on this and/or call my doctor.

The one thing that bothers me is that I probably have more weight to lose than what I thinking I had to lose.  I thought I only had about 20 pounds left to lose to be at a “healthy weight,” but maybe it will be more than that.  Ugh!
